Ibanez EGEN8 Herman Li Signature Platinum Blonde 2010

Ibanez EGEN8 Herman Li Signature Platinum Blonde 2010

Ibanez EGEN8 Herman Li, natural finish, made in Indonesia 2010. Not many bands' path to fame rises primarily out of the valley of video games. UK power metal shredlords DragonForce became a global sensation when their ludicrously fast tune Through the Fire and Flames was used as the final-boss tune in the game Guitar Hero. The song has 149m views on YouTube... nuts. The axemen for the act both got signature Ibanez models for a while there: Sam Totman had Iceman shaped offerings, and Herman Li had a couple of pair of super sleek S series offerings. This was the more basic one, but it's very good: slick and quick, lightweight, smooth and convincing to hear. The neck is Ibanez's classic Wizard shape: flat on the back, D shaped, very slim, built for speed. The Edge III tremolo, locking nut and tuners all work great, so it holds tune convincingly even if you're mashing the tremolo. It looks cool with the flame maple, gold hardware and cute inlays; it's a classy aesthetic. This model is long discontinued these days, so if you've been after one, here's your shot.
