Brian by Bacchus BLS-500G Sherwood Green 1998

Brian by Bacchus BLS-500G Sherwood Green 1998

Brian by Bacchus LP Standard style BLS-500G, sherwood green, made in Korea circa 1998. The Japanese guitar enthusiasts among us are likely familiar with Bacchus, they came out in the early 90s doing exeptionally well made Fender and Gibson style guitars completely by hand and quickly won great acclaim for their superb workmanship and attention to detail. The Brian sub-brand, however, is a little more obscure and certainly a case of 'how did ever come to exist?!' Brian branded stuff, according to the scarce info I can find, was made in Korea and sold exclusively within Japan as mid-level stuff, similar in price to the standard Fender Japan or Ibanez stuff of the day. The green finish isn't listed in the catalog, but heck, it's so cool, right? It's a little darker than a Gibson 'inverness green', it's very similar to Fender's sherwood green. The tone is thick and hefty with plenty of output and a focussed, aggressive midrange. It's great with a generous dose of gain on the bridge position, but it also cleans up nicely, especially on the neck pickup. This is a quirky little guitar, but it punches well beyond the dollars you pay and will surely make you smile. We all need some Brian in our life, right?

The front has no major marks, just some dimples near the knobs and standard play wear on the horns. Overall: very good condition (8.5/10)

Playing condition notes: Neck is straight, action is low, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. Frets have very little wear, heaps of life, 9/10. Wearing fresh 10/52 Moonshiners strings.
